Schatz gets the Shots! |
Minneapolis, MN, February 3, 1999- Donny Schatz and crewmember Todd Devnich spent the entire day on February 2nd at Gallop Studios in Minneapolis. Donny worked with photographer Jim Gallop and his crew to capture some dramatic new photos for the 2000 ParkerStore autograph cards, as well as for the Internet. The intent is to provide the fans with an autograph card and image that they have not seen in sprint car racing before. Gallop is an award-winning photographer who is on the cutting edge of digital photography. His clients include BMW, Mercedes Benz, Polaris and Caterpillar, just to name a few. Gallop used his 'painting with light' techniques to capture some breathtaking photos. For this procedure, the room is totally dark and a fiberoptic light source is literally 'painted' over desired areas of the subject. This creates dream-like images and simulates an impossible world of color and light. "This is one of the toughest thing I have ever had to do," said Donny. "It's pretty tough to stand motionless for 50 seconds over and over again. I could do four or five laps in that time. These guys really had their act together. I would recommend them to anyone looking for this type of photography." Watch for some exciting new interactive Internet technology coming soon to the Parker Racing website.
