We think it's a Rocket! |
Barberville, FL (February 16, 2000) Although Jimmy Mars was only able to pull down one fast qualifier award and one top five finish during the first week of Speedweeks 2000, he is very confident in the new Rocket Chassis he's running this year. "It's all just been dumb luck," said Jimmy. "We've actually been running pretty well. We've just got caught in a lot of bad situations. Eckert has just been blowing away the field, and we've got the same car. We're so close to winning one of these. We're not going to make any more changes to the car, I think we've got the bugs worked out." Mars won the Speedweeks STARS finale one year ago, but has yet to make it into victory lane in 2000. Other than last year's big win, the brothers have not had much luck in Florida in recent years and usually end up a bringing home a race car with a lot of battle scars. "These guys are right on top of their game," said Ozzie Altman. "Just take a look at the Hav-A-Tampa point standings. These guys are going to bust one loose shortly. They might even do it in Jacksonville this weekend." The ParkerStore team will be competing at Volusia Speedway Park for the next two nights, before making the trek to Jax Raceway in Jacksonville, FL for rounds six and seven of the Hav-A-Tampa Dirt Racing Series on February 18-19.
