(Elk Mound, WI) The Mars brother's ParkerStore team will be taking this weekend off before heading to Glenmora, LA next weekend for the Jambalaya 100. The Jambalaya 100 is presented by the Louisiana Bureau of Tourism and Recreation, and will be the largest motorsports event ever held in the state of Louisiana. It will be the eighth race of the $4-Million Hav-A-Tampa 2000 season, featuring the top dirt late model drivers in the nation. The team has been working out of their shop in Elk Mound, WI since returning from their Speedweeks trip to Florida in February. The grueling schedule during Speedweeks leaves the cars with countless battle scars needing attention. "Florida is really tough on equipment," said Jeff Harrison, the newest member of the Mars Racing Team. "We've spent a lot of time going through the cars and equipment. We've had a few problems, but I think we've got them worked out. Florida was also the first time that we have worked out of the new hauler, and there were a few things we needed to change there too." The team has also made some slight changes to appearance of their cars. They have recently added new striping to the dominantly black color scheme. "We just thought the car needed a little something," said Jimmy. "The black body kind of blended in with the track and the night sky, and you didn't really see a definition of the car. We have added some color to the bottom, a lot like we had for the Re/Max car last year. We want the car to look good, but we also want it easy to read." Mars is currently in the sixteenth position in the Hav-A-Tampa point's race. In seven outings, he has one top five finish, one top ten finish and one quick time pole award. (Article by John Strand) |
