ParkerStore Team Looks to Add to the Win Column to Close Out Successful Season ELK MOUND, WI (November 8, 2000)- Jimmy Mars took the ParkerStore Chevrolet Monte Carlo on a stout run to a 4th place finish in Sunday afternoons National 100 at Phenix City, ALs East Alabama Motor Speedway. The successful outing for the talented racer yielded the team its 19th top-five and 30th top-ten finish of the 2000 campaign. Mars scored a win in Saturday night's second qualifying heat, to grab a starting spot in the 25-car feature starting grid. He then battled throughout the 100-lap affair to another front-running performance for his efforts and team sponsor ParkerStore Fluid Connectors. The racing week started early for Mars and company in the state of Alabama with a special appearance on behalf of ParkerStore at Tenn-Val in Decatur, AL. Following the opportunity to meet with employees of the ParkerStore affiliate and fans from the Decatur area Jimmy headed to Phenix City to enjoin the racing action at East Alabama Motor Speedway. This weekend Jimmy Mars Racing will wrap up the 2000 season with a triple-header weekend of STARS National DirtCar Racing League action at East Bay Raceway in Tampa, FL. The season finale for the STARS circuit kicks off with a Thursday night (November 9th) feature and will continue through the weekend concluding with a $30,000 to win Saturday night 100 lapper. Mars is a former STARS winner at East Bay Raceway and earlier this season captured a Hav-A-Tampa Series pole award in WinterNationals action at the 1/3-mile oval. Mars has continued to display his talents in the stock car racing world with successes on both dirt and asphalt surfaces. In August of this season Mars won the prestigious Topless 100 at Batesville (AR) Speedway claiming a winners take of over $42,000. Mars is a previous champion (1997) of the $100,000 to win dirt late model "Dream" race at Eldora Speedway in Ohio and also claimed the "US Outlaw Nationals" title at Cedar Lake Speedway near St. Paul, MN by winning the event in 1996. Last season Mars stepped outside the world of major league dirt racing and claimed the NASCAR RE/MAX Challenge Series Rookie of the Year honors while proving his skills on America's short-track paved ovals.
