ParkerStore driver feels there will be a few more big wins this year Elk Mound, WI- Jimmy Mars and the team are back home working out of the familys race shop in Elk Mound this week. Although this is an off week for the team, they still plan on sneaking in two nights of racing at their old stomping grounds. The UDTRA Pro DirtCar Series takes the weekends of Easter and Mothers Day off. "Its kind of nice being around home for a little while," said Jimmy. "We really like running around home, and seeing all of our local fans. They dont get to see us run that often, so its kind of fun to do." The ParkerStore team is coming off a very solid start to the season, and is currently sixth in the UDTRA points race. Mars picked up his first series victory at the Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track in Fort Worth, TX in March. "The car has been awesome," Jimmy added. " We have really been concentrating on our whole program this year. We are going through the cars and replacing parts before they have a chance to break. It takes a lot more time and effort, but it feels like it is paying off." Mars will be piloting the Mopar powered MasterSbilt owned by his father-in-law Paul Gilberts this weekend. The team has had this car out a couple of times this season, and have been extremely fast. Jimmy picked up a feature win the opening weekend at the Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, WI. "These new MasterSbilt chassis are unbelievable, and there is no lack of power in that Mopar either," added Jimmy. Mars will be at the Red Cedar Speedway in Menomonie, WI on Friday night, and then move over to the Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, WI for Saturday nights action. The next UDTRA Pro DirtCar event will be at the West Liberty Raceway in West Liberty, IA on May 15, and then on to Dakota State Fair Speedway in Huron, SD on May 18-19. (Article by John Strand) |
