KNOXVILLE, IA (August 9) – Donny Schatz
exchanged the lead with Sammy Swindell three times before taking control of the Second
Preliminary Feature at the 41st Annual Amoco Nationals Thursday.
Schatz, the runner-up in last year’s championship feature, took the checkered flag more than a straightaway ahead of Jason Meyers in his first-ever victory at Knoxville Raceway.
Schatz qualified fifth out of 64 entries on the second night of qualifications. He also picked up a win in the fifth O’Reilly’s Heat Race.
The ParkerStore team will be in the ‘A’ Scramble on Friday night. Schatz will start in the ninth position. The finishing order determines the start for the 41st Amoco Knoxville Nationals.
