"We really didn't need that late yellow," said Schatz. "I was coming up to Steve real fast and might have had a chance to get a run on him in traffic. Once we had the restart, I didn't have any chance. The same thing happened last spring. It took me a little while to find where the car worked best, but the final 10 laps we really had the car going good." Schatz raced from ninth to third in Friday's opener, which locked him into Saturday's Channellock Dash. He made several attempts to get by Friday's winner, Tim Shaffer, in the eight-lap dash vying for a front row starting spot. He started third and found himself running fourth during the first 10 laps of the race. Schatz survived the crash-filled early portions of the race and kept the leaders in sight.

On the 25th lap, he really began closing in race leader Steve Kinser and on the next lap looked to have a chance to pass "the King" on the high-side heading into turn three when the yellow flag waived.

"I really got lucky and found the good line on the track by mistake," continued Schatz. "Jeff Shepard was running third and spun in front of me, so I tried to go in a little higher and the car stuck really good. From there, I was just trying to reel those guys in. We almost got it done. I hate finishing second, but this ParkerStores team did a great job this weekend. Maybe we can get a win in Houston next week."

The team will return to their raceshop in Broken Arrow, OK, prior to the two-night program at the new Houston Raceway Park, which begins on Saturday.
