ParkerStore sponsored dirt team joins with ARCA team for Talladega race Chattanooga, TN, October 3, 2002 - Donny Davidson, President of Southern Fluidpower has just announced that his company will be sponsoring the ARCA Re/Max race team of Ron Cox for the events at Talladega Speedway this weekend. "Ron is a long time friend of ours," stated Davidson. "His shop is just a few miles down the road from us, and we've raced together for quite a few years. Ron doesn't have the backing that a lot of other teams have, so we've decided to help him out. This is a great way to help promote Southern Fluid Power as well as our ParkerStore" Cox is currently 7th in the 2002 ARCA Re/Max point standings. Though he was the 1999 ARCA Rookie of the Year, Ron is no novice when it comes to racing. Raised in a racing family, he was exposed to the sport at an early age. His stepfather, Wayne Hixson, was a stock car veteran who spent 22 years on dirt tracks. "I've always loved racing," Ron said. "I used to watch my dad race, sitting up in the grandstands with my grandfather when I was 5 or 6 years old." Davidson also owns Davidson Motorsports, a regional dirt late model team. The team competes at tracks around the southeast in a paint scheme that looks amazingly similar to the trademark ParkerStore paint scheme that Jimmy Mars traveled the country with for several years. "Racing is just a great way to promote our business," added Donny. "The demographics of the sport are a great combination with the customers that walk into our store every day". The event at the Talladega Motor Speedway will be televised on the Speed Channel on Saturday, October 5th, starting at 8 p.m. (ET). Check your local listings for the time and channel in your area.
