TALLADEGA, AL - Donny Schatz and his ParkerStore team did everything they could to win the Pennzoil World of Outlaws feature event at the Talladega Short Track on Saturday night. Schatz, who drove the #15 ParkerStore J&J to the lead on lap 10, came up on lapped cars with 32 laps down when one slowed dramatically with a flat tire. Donny was trapped behind him and Steve Kinser and Craig Dollansky got by him. The yellow came out one lap later and Schatz wasn't able to get his lead back in the 40-lap race. He ended up finishing third, which wrapped up a good weekend that included a run from 11th to fourth on Friday night in Baxter, TN. "We had the same thing happen here in the spring," said Schatz, eluding to his second place finish where he was leading and lapped traffic cost him the race. "We never seem to get the breaks with the yellow flags. I'm proud of my guys for working hard. We had the car to beat tonight, but finished third. We'll keep after it and hope to finish first in Charlotte next week." The team will race on Friday and Saturday at the Dirt Track in Concord, NC, just across the street from Lowe's Motor Speedway. Schatz has been awesome at the 4/10 mile high-banked race track and hopes to continues his RatBag Cup title chase there. (Article by Bill Klingbeil) |
