May 21, 2003, Sarver, PA ~ With the weather being just about as uncooperative as it could possibly be, it has been hard to keep current of what night Donny Schatz and the ParkerStores team ran at what track. Hagerstown Speedway was supposed to be run on Saturday but ran Monday while Lernerville Speedway was supposed to run Tuesday but ran Wednesday. Well, you get the picture. But despite the delays, the team had great success at both tracks, with Schatz's third win of the season at Lernerville and a strong third place run at Hagerstown.

"It has been a long week for the team with all the rain delays and zigzagging back and forth to tracks," said Schatz. "But it worked out well for us! We had good qualifying efforts at both Hagerstown and Lernerville, which set a positive tone for each of the nights. We had strong finishes in our heat races, then had strong runs in the dashes. Starting toward the front in the feature certainly is important with the level of competition in the World of Outlaws. But even if you start close to the front, having the right crew chief put the right setup under the car and tire management as the race progresses and the track changes is also critical. It is a team effort.

"Heading to the busy weekend with two USAC Silver Crown races plus the big WoO event at Charlotte it is nice to have the momentum with the win and running well. Danny Wood will be in the car Friday night at Charlotte but I am going down for Saturday night. We need to keep running well and finishing toward the front."

At Hagerstown Schatz qualified fifth out of the 33 cars who were on hand for the night. He finished third in his heat race and second in the dash putting him on the inside of the second row for the start of the 35-ap A main event.

Mark Kinser jumped in the lead followed by Johnny Herrera. Schatz stayed close to Herrera taking advantage of lapped traffic to slide into second spot and take aim on Kinser. Greg Hodnett had different ideas taking over the second spot from Schatz but was unable to run down Kinser. The order stayed Kinser, Hodnett, Schatz followed by Daryn Pittman and Lance Dewease.

A total of 39 cars were in the pits at Lernerville Speedway. Schatz posted the eighth quickest time, finished fourth in his heat and won the dash. Starting from the outside of the front row, Schatz chased Greg Hodnett for 11 of the scheduled 35 lap A-main before taking the lead in traffic. He led the remainder of the laps followed to the checkers by Dewease, USAC Silver Crown teammate Tyler Walker, Danny Lasoski and Daryn Pittman.

Schatz currently sits eighth in World of Outlaws series point standings.
