Memphis, TN- June 24, 2003- Donny Schatz and Tyler Walker hope to shine during the Dominic’s of New York 100 at Richmond International Raceway.

The team has made adjustments on the cars from their last pavement showing at Indianapolis Raceway Park and is ready for this weekend.

“I like Richmond,” smiled Walker. “We were fast the last time I was there in 2001 with Evernham. This will be a good place for us to get some points and hopefully get a win or a top three finish. I feel real comfortable in these cars. We just need to put together a whole race with no problems.”

Both drivers have had strong finishes in other series and believe that success will translate to success in the USAC Weld Silver Crown Series.

“We have been racing very well the last several weeks in the ParkerStores winged sprint car,” said Schatz. “I feel like there is a tremendous amount of momentum on our side right now. The trick is transferring that momentum to the Silver Crown car at Richmond.”

Richmond International Raceway is a “D” shaped 3/4 oval that could pose a challenge to some of the Silver Crown drivers, but the slick track may suit Donny and Tyler just fine.

“The surface at Richmond is slippery, so it should fit Donny’s and Tyler’s style because they are used to sliding around a little bit,” said Team Manager Chris Santucci. “I think the track also suits them well because they have tested Memphis on two different occasions. So they have that size track or that layout of a track down better than other places that we have been.”

“The entrances into the corners are your whole race,” added Walker. “We also have to pay attention to how the tires feel so we can have our tires at the end and not burn them off too early. This is also a racetrack that you can over drive easily.”

“Driving the ParkerStores Silver Crown car at Richmond will be another new experience for me and I am looking forward to the challenge,” said Schatz. “I have never been to the track, but I understand it is a fast track, perfect for the Silver Crown cars. Again, I have the advantage of driving for a team with experience in the series and at the tracks which gives me confidence in knowing the car will have a great setup.”

TURNING THE WRENCHES
The R.E. Technologies race team has made several changes to the ParkerStores sponsored #115 driven by Donny Schatz and the Curb Records sponsored #35 driven by Tyler Walker.

Keith Holsapple has joined the #115 ParkerStores team for the upcoming race in Richmond. Holsapple has 23 years experience with Silver Crown cars and has worked with several drivers including Dave Darland, Jay Drake and Jack Hewitt.

The team also made some adjustments to the cars. “We have changed Donny’s car around trying to get him a little more comfortable,” said Santucci. “As Donny turns more laps, he is starting to get a better feel for the car. Tyler will have a new Gaerte engine with a different configuration motor setup. We haven’t run it under race conditions yet. We’ll see if Tyler likes it. The engine is fresh and should be more powerful.”

BASKING IN THE OPEN WHEEL SPOTLIGHT
Once again, the USAC Weld Racing Silver Crown series will share the spotlight with the Indy Racing League, providing more exposure for the series, drivers and sponsors. The 100 lap USAC Weld Silver Crown series race is scheduled to start at 5:30pm and the Indy Racing League hits the .75 mile oval at 8pm Eastern.
