Memphis, TN - July 28, 2003- Donny Schatz and Tyler Walker both say it will take experience to win the J.D. Byrider 100 Thursday. And that is exactly what the R.E. Technologies Racing team plans to bring. That experience comes in four pavement races for the team and new J&J chassis, additional testing at IRP and an outside pole position when they last visited Indianapolis Raceway Park during the Hoosier Twin 50’s on May 22nd.

“I thought we were pretty close to a win last time,” said Tyler Walker, driver of the Curb Records #35. “We just had a few mechanical problems get us.”

“After our best finish of the year at Pikes Peak, I feel good about how we will run at IRP,” said Donny Schatz, driver of the ParkerStores #115. “Although the two tracks are different, the additional laps at Colorado and the past trips to IRP, have given me a better feel for the place. IRP is just a track that takes a lot of laps to be fast.”

Team Manager, Chris Santucci agrees with Schatz that experience should pay off. “Tyler gets around IRP pretty good last time and Donny improved a lot at Pikes Peak. We have made more changes to the car since May and both drivers say they are comfortable with the cars.”

“We have the cars balanced now and they feel real comfortable. Every time that we have gone out, we have gotten a little bit better and a little bit more consistent. It is a slick track that you have to be really smooth and patient,” added Walker. “You have to be easy on the throttle and easy on the wheel. It is a flat track with not too much grip. If you break the car loose, it is hard to get the car back underneath you.”

Both the Curb Records #35 and the ParkerStores #115 will have new Gaerte engines for the race at IRP.

R.E. Technologies Racing will also have some very special guests from ParkerStores offices in Ohio visiting in the pits. ParkerStores sponsors Donny Schatz’s USAC Weld Racing Silver Crown car as well as his O’Reilly World of Outlaws ride.

“We are excited about the folks from ParkerStores visiting and want to put together a good solid finish for them.”
