FARGO, ND ~ OCTOBER 9 2003 ~ As the 2003 World of Outlaws season winds down, Donny Schatz continues to be in high gear. He has already recorded his World of Outlaws career-best total wins, 12 following Friday night's victory in the Williams Grove National Open Preliminary Night. But to reaffirm his determination to be the top contender for the 2004 World of Outlaws Championship, taking the #15 ParkerStores J & J to victory lane again and again is the short-term goal of the North Dakota driver. As the national touring series for winged sprint cars was on the final Eastern United States swing last weekend, Schatz was continuing the consistency that has been the trademark of the team since midsummer. Although Thursday night's event at Port Royal was loaded with frustrations that would stop any other team, the ParkerStores team rallied from the adversity of early race on-track contact with damage and a rear wheel packed with mud, both sending Schatz to the back of the field to work his way forward, to finish 13th. After Friday night's win at Williams Grove, he followed it up with a fourth place Saturday night and another fourth place on Sunday in Bridgeport, New Jersey. Schatz heads for the Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track The Cheaper Than Dirt Shootout this weekend determined to keep the team motivated with the high energy momentum needed to carry through the off-season, trip to Australia and assault on the 2004 championship. "I am really looking forward to coming back to Texas Motor Speedway," said Schatz. "We are determined to improve our past finishes there. The track is always so well prepared and is a great place to race, I just haven't quite found the secret to winning there, but this could be the race where we change that scenario.” "I am really proud of the consistency our #15 ParkerStores team has developed in the past months. It is the exact place we need to be to make a strong run for the 2004 WoO championship.” "We were able to pull off the win at Williams Grove in the preliminary feature but Saturday night, we missed the setup just a tick and the way Steve (Kinser, Saturday night’s winner) is dominating, you can't even give him a millimeter because he will take advantage of it!” "With the season almost over, we really need to stay on our game to get everything kicked into high gear out of the gate in 2004." Following the Texas event, the season will conclude with events in Tunica, MS, Houston, TX and the finale October 31 and November 1 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
