ELBRIDGE, NY – Donny Schatz was beginning to wonder if he would ever reach victory lane this season. The 26 year-old World of Outlaws Sprint Series star is having the most consistent season of his career, but hadn’t reached victory lane until Wednesday night at Rolling Wheels Speedway in Elbridge, NY. Schatz scored a thrilling victory passing 18-time WoO champion Steve Kinser with less than two laps remaining to take his first Outlaw “A” Feature of 2004.

“My ParkerStore team really deserved this win tonight,” said Schatz after driving his #15 ParkerStore J&J to victory lane. “They’ve been working so hard and to get a win really is big. This feels good. I was staring to wonder if we were going to a win race or not.”

Schatz was the second fastest qualifier in the field of 30 cars at the big, dirt half-mile oval located east of Syracuse. He finished fifth in the second heat race and came home third in the second dash event earning him the sixth starting position in the 25-lap feature event.

At the drop of the green in the feature, Schatz was on the move. He followed fellow outside front row starters Paul McMahan and Danny Lasoski as the three ambushed the inside row. McMahan took the lead with Lasoski in second and Schatz followed polesitter Steve Kinser during the race’s early stages. Kinser chased down Lasoski and McMahan to take the lead following the races midpoint and Schatz chased him. With less than five laps remaining, he had closed in on Kinser’s tail tank. The two worked lapped traffic and even dared to go three wide with a lapped car down the frontstretch battling for the lead. Schatz was able to clear lapped traffic heading out of turn two and beat “the King” back to the white flag. He made the final lap without hesitation and came home victorious.

“It’s nice to beat Steve Kinser,” said Schatz following his 21st career WoO win. “He’s the best driver ever to get in one of these things and beating him is a hell of a feat. We just need to be doing it every night. This win is will help us keep pushing and now we’re just looking for the next one.”

Schatz and his ParkerStore team, consisting of Crew Chief Tyler Swank and Crewman Brian Bloomfield and John Cressman, will continue the demanding Northeast swing with Friday’s stop at Sharon Speedway.
