Kyle Larson won again Saturday night in the second point race of the rain soaked Red Bluff Winter Indoor Series. He drove his ParkerStore QRC Factory Outlaw Sprint Kart to the win in the 20 lap feature after earlier lowering his own track record set last week in qualifying. The Elk Grove, California driver began the day by setting fast time of 9.323 over 20 kart field. The new standard was lower by .003 on the reconfigured Red Bluff racetrack. His time put him in the seventh starting position of the fully inverted heat race. At the drop of the green Larson sliced his way through the field and took over the lead on lap five and kept it to the lap 12 checkered. In the Trophy Dash Larson started in the sixth and final spot and got into the third position by lap three of the six lap race. Over the final three laps Larson found himself in a dogfight with leader Brad Patchen and Dillon Silverman. The trio put on an exciting display of close competition but Larson did have to settle for finishing third with the win going to Patchen.
The feature lineup saw Larson starting in the fourth slot. As the race got underway, Larson settled into the third position behind Brian Southers and Silverman. By lap two Larson had moved into second and lap four saw him pass Southers for the lead in turn three. On lap five Southers and Silverman tangled to bring out a yellow. After the race restarted Larson stretched his lead and captured his second feature win on the series. Larson found the track more to his liking this week, he stated “It seemed the track was cut a little bit flatter this week but it made the track wider and passing was easier. I could put my ParkerStore QRC Factory Kart high or low and always get a good run off the corners.” Race: 10-23-04 Red Bluff |
