ParkerStore driver breaks
track record for third
consecutive week

Red Bluff, CA - Kyle Larson found victory lane once again in his ParkerStore QRC Factory Outlaw Sprint Kart as the Winter Indoors Series continued at Red Bluff Saturday night. The win in the 125cc division was Larson’s third in a row at the Pauline David Pavilion bullring and came after a great battle with Brian Southers. The day also marked the annual Halloween festivities, which sees the younger set trick or treating at all the kart trailers just after sundown.

The day started with Larson setting another new track record in qualifying by lowering the standard to 9.125 over a 19 kart field. The effort was even more impressive as the time would have made him the 3rd fastest qualifier in the Open division.

Larson started 7th in the completely inverted heat race but overhauled leader Trevor Tennison on a lap 3 restart and held the lead to the lap 12 checkered. The six-kart six-lap trophy dash saw Larson quickly move from sixth to third on the first lap but he could advance no further and finished behind winner Jonny Lentz and Southers.

The 20 lap main event began with Larson in the 4th position. By lap four he had moved into second behind Dillon Silverman. A lap five restart saw Silverman’s machine experience an engine failure at the exit of turn two that briefly collected Larson. By the time he was able to free himself from Silverman, third place Southers had gotten around to take the lead. After the caution period to remove Silverman’s kart from the track, Larson and Southers put on an exciting display of wheel-to-wheel non-contact racing until Southers bobbled slightly exiting turn two. The miscue gave Larson the opening he needed to assume control of the race. He continued to open his advantage over the rest of the field and finished ahead of Southers and Lentz. The closing laps also saw Larson post a faster lap than anyone in the open division main event as he turned a 9.430.

After the race, the ParkerStore pilot stated, “Brian Southers was really fast and with the track kind of narrowing as the day went on, I didn’t know if I would be able to get by him. I was pretty fortunate when he gave me the opening because I was trying everything I could to get by him. I really like racing with Brian because he will run you as hard and close as anybody.”
