TULARE, CA - Donny Schatz and his ParkerStore team had a pair of sixth place finishes in the World of Outlaws Sprint Series event at Thunderbowl Speedway in Tulare, CA. The end result may have been the same both Friday and Saturday, but each night had a different route for the final outcome.

Friday began with a 20th place qualifying effort for Schatz in his #15 ParkerStore J&J with Shaver power. He bounced back with a second place finish in the fourth heat race, but problems under the hood forced Crew Chief Tyler Swank, Crewman Brian Bloomfield and Team Manager Todd Sietz to swap Shaver engines prior to the second dash event. The team made the switch in time for Schatz to come home sixth in the second dash and earn the 12th starting position in the 25-lap preliminary feature. Schatz moved his way forward during the race and came finished sixth.

Erin Crocker scored her first career feature win finishing ahead of Paul McMahan, Jac Haudenschild, Steve Kinser, Brian Paulus and Schatz.

The program got started better for the ParkerStore team on Saturday night. Schatz timed in fourth out of the field 34 cars. He finished second in the fourth heat race and came home sixth in the dash event to earn the outside third row starting position for the 35-lap feature.

In the feature, Schatz ran a solid early part of the race making his way into the top five and progressing towards leader Steve Kinser. Second place was not the spot to be in on this night as an abrasive surface began taking its toll on competitors. First it was Jason Meyers and he was followed by Tim Shaffer as both lost second place. When Shaffer dropped out with an engine problem on lap 26, Schatz worked his way into the runner-up spot. Friday's winner Erin Crocker took second from Schatz on lap 31 and was challenging Steve Kinser for the lead when a lap 33 caution slowed the action.

That caution bunched the field up and several drivers were trying to hold on with very little rubber available on their right rear tires. When the green flag waved Schatz tried to keep up with the leaders, but his right rear tire gave out and he stopped on the track. The ParkerStore crew made the tire change and after the race was restarted another tire blew before the checkered flag waived forcing a red flag stoppage. Leader Steve Kinser and runner-up Crocker both lost tires in the final lap handing the lead over to Daryn Pittman. Pittman couldn't capitalize on the opportunity as his right rear exploded heading towards the checkered flag allowing Terry McCarl to sneak under him for the win.

Schatz charged back through the field to claim sixth. Schatz and the ParkerStore team will conclude the 2004 WoO campaign next weekend in Las Vegas at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Friday and Saturday. Schatz will finish the season in third position in the finale WoO standings, which will be a career-best.
