LARSON’S WIN STREAK ENDS
WITH SECOND PLACE FINISH

Elk Grove, CA - California’s Kyle Larson saw his streak of three Red Bluff Winter Indoor Series, and 4 overall, main event wins end Saturday night. However, the night included several high points in his ParkerStore QRC Factory Sprint Kart, among them the first ever eight second lap on the recently lengthened track inside the Pauline Davis Pavilion.

When qualifying was complete the 12 year old Larson had bested all competitors, including the 500cc open karts, with a blazing 8.964 lap, while utilizing his 125cc Banke powered ParkerStore rocket. His qualifying time positioned him sixth in the fully inverted 12-lap heat race. By lap four Larson had moved into second but faced a huge deficit to catch leader Dylan Pemberton. But coming to the checkered flag Larson got a great launch off the bottom of turn four and just nipped Pemberton at the line by 2 thousandths of a second.

The six kart six lap trophy dash saw Larson start from the tail. He quickly jumped into fourth and on lap three had moved to third. Although he closed ground on the leaders he finished behind winner Dillon Silverman and Brian Southers.

In the very eventful A-Main Larson started from the fourth spot. On lap five, while in third, leader Silverman spun in turn four and collected Larson. He restarted at the rear and had moved back to sixth by lap 14, when he was tapped from behind by Kenny Allen. Larson was able to recover after the pack had gone by, while Allen also spun to bring out a yellow. Larson again restarted at the back and on lap 16 Silverman spun again collecting Josh Keheley and also grazing the ParkerStore mount, nearly bringing it to a stop. Larson was able to drive through the incident and restarted in sixth with eight laps to go. On lap 20 he moved into fifth and by lap 22 he made it to 3rd. Exiting turn two of the last lap Larson made the pass on Derek Copeland and finished a very satisfying 2nd to winner Southers.

At the conclusion of the race another team lodged a protest on Larson’s engine. This required it to be checked for the cubic centimeter volume of the cylinder, which Larson’s powerplant easily passed. After the race the little ParkerStore chauffer said, “It sure is great to hold the all time track record at Red Bluff, and I guess a protest is to be expected. I’m feeling really comfortable in my ParkerStore QRC kart lately. Also, even though I didn’t win tonight, it sure was fun to pass that many karts in one race. Hopefully, we’ll get them next week.
