Sacramento, CA-Kyle Larson recently participated in the third annual Tony Hunt Celebrity Race Event to benefit the Make-a-Wish Foundation. Hunt, the 2004 USAC Western States Sprint Car Champion hosted the event at RPM-Race Place Motorsports in Sacramento, California, one of the ParkerStore driver’s associate sponsors.

The event was held in the ultra-modern facility and was contested on two road course type tracks utilizing equally prepared Stratos GS 03 karts. Twenty-six teams participated and each team was captained by a celebrity driver. A few of the drivers on hand included USAC Champions Hunt, Jimmy Sills, Michael Lewis and Johnny Rodriguez; sprint car drivers Chuck Gurney Jr., Andy Forsberg, David Robinson, Jr. and Destiny Hays; and Indy Car driver and kart legend Memo Gidley.

Another of Larson’s associate sponsors, Corning Ford Mercury & Kia, put together a team that included Larson, sprint car driver and outlaw kart champion Pistol Pete Johnston, former late model and modified driver Clarence Reddick, who were teamed with sprint car driver Andy Forsberg as their captain. Besides the racing competition each team had to perform a pit stop utilizing a former Randy LaJoie NASCAR stock car. The team had to remove front and rear tires and swap them, while simulating a fuel stop. Larson was designated as the driver and the team did an outstanding job to finish 5th in the timed event. That finish was combined with their on track results and the team finished an impressive second in the overall competition. Larson was consistently among the fastest drivers on both tracks and led his team in each session.

The best part about the event for all concerned was that everyone had fun and donated cash and their time to a worthy event. The charity event raised a grand total of $14,000 and 100% of the proceeds will benefit the local chapter of the Make-a-Wish Foundation.
