PHOENIX, AZ (March 6) - Donny Schatz and his ParkerStore team returned to World of Outlaws Sprint series action this past weekend at Manzanita Speedway in Phoenix, AZ. The Fargo, ND racer raced his #15 ParkerStore J&J to a tenth place finish in Friday's Cactus Classic preliminary feature and the finale, which was originally set for Saturday, was postponed until October 11 after consistent rain made racing impossible. Schatz, who dominated the 1999 Western World weekend at Manzanita, came out of the box fast in qualifications. He circled the high-speed half-mile dirt oval in 15.629 seconds earning the third fastest lap in the field of 34 cars. After a strong qualifying run, the mood of the night changed when Schatz finished sixth in the third heat race, one spot out of transfer position in the dash and feature events. He was forced to run the "B" Feature, which he won. The "B" feature victory earned Schatz the 13th starting position in the 25-lap preliminary feature. Schatz made his way to tenth during the feature to give him and the team their sixth top ten finish in eight WoO starts in 2005. The ParkerStore team now heads to Las Vegas, where it will compete Thursday and Friday in the J.D. Byrider World of Outlaws Nationals at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Schatz has two victories at the half-mile track including during his last visit in N |
