Chico, CA – ParkerStore driver Kyle Larson moved closer to the century mark in career wins as he scored first place finishes in both the Intermediate 125/250 and 500cc Open Intermediate divisions Saturday June 25th at Cycleland Speedway. He will attempt to reach the three digit win total at the first ever West Coast Nationals in Red Bluff, a three day event over the Fourth of July weekend.

Larson set fast time (11.684) in the 125/250 division over a 34 kart field before finishing second to Mason Moore in the trophy dash. Larson lined his ParkerStore/Predator Motors/QRC factory kart outside the third row of the main event. As polesitter Cole Peard assumed the early lead Moore and Larson began to advance forward. By lap seven Moore had taken the lead and on lap eight Larson moved into second. A lap 10 restart saw Moore go to the top as Larson went to the bottom. Exiting turn two Larson had the advantage and quickly moved to the high side of the racetrack where he gradually extended his lead to the lap 20 checkered.

In the 500cc open intermediate Larson set fourth quick time of the 31 karts assembled. After a spin on lap two while running second in the dash Larson restarted last and came back to finish fourth. The finish placed Larson eighth on the grid for the feature race. On the start Larson narrowly missed a multi-car melee in turn one that involved several top runners ahead of and directly behind Larson. Larson restarted in fifth and moved by James Sweeney for fourth on lap two. On lap four Larson used an outside pass on Alyssa Geving to advance to third. The yellow ParkerStore machine then closed in behind leader Dillon Silverman and second place Keith Bloom. The trio raced nose to tail, each using the treacherous cushion as their preferred line, until Silverman jumped the cushion in turn two and slammed the wall, momentarily collecting Bloom. Larson had to brake hard in order to avoid contact allowing fourth running Sweeney to take over the lead as they raced to the yellow. On the restart Larson powered to the top of turn one to take a lead that he would not relinquish, although Sweeney and Bloom both spent time in second challenging for the lead, with Sweeney ultimately gaining the runner-up spot.

At the conclusion of the night’s event Larson said, “The 125/250 kart is just so steady – all we do is gas it up and go race. We almost never change the setup and Robert Carrel from QRC provides me with a great car and engine. The track was really nice tonight too. I like it when it gets choppy on the cushion because a lot of guys don’t like to go there and I think it gives me an advantage. But it was pretty exciting there tonight in the 500 kart. I almost lost it there a couple of times but everything worked out okay. Also, I want to give Grandpa George Becker a big thanks because he put together a new engine for me this week and it was really fast right off. At first it felt like it had too much power to be able to drive the car. But after a gear change it was perfect. I’m hoping we can get the right setup for Red Bluff this weekend for the West Coast Nationals so that all that power Grandpa gave me can take my ParkerStore kart to the front again.”
