GRANVILLE, NSW (AUSTRALIA) - When Donny Schatz left Fargo last week, he was ready to get back on the track. He made quick work of the 65-car field in Monday’s Valvoline Australian Sprintcar Grand Prix at Parramatta City Raceway near Sydney, Australia. In this Boxing Night special, none of the competitors were up the challenge as Schatz set quick time, won the first heat race, first dash and feature event in the #15 Pick & Payless J&J, owned by Garry Rush. The performance was just what the World of Outlaws star was looking for since last being in the driver’s seat of his #15 ParkerStore sprinter in late October. He blistered the field taking the checkered flag almost six seconds ahead of Kerry Madsen in the 30-lap feature event. “We were real happy to have the car working this good,” said Schatz in his cool, calm and collected manner upon receiving the ten-grand winner’s check. “Garry Rush and his team have done a fine job, mind you, we still have a few more improvements to come,” sounded Schatz with an ominous warning to his future competitors. “I haven’t driven anything for two months, so to come out and clean sweep the night is a good feeling.” Schatz will return to action on Friday night for another round of International Sprint Cars with qualifying, heat races, dash events and a 30-lap feature at Parramatta City Raceway.
